Finally, after many attempts a scout mission to Odessa Ukraine took place.

Under the logistical support of Dan Lukach the mission took place on May 22-29, 2010.  Dan holds dear his homeland of Odessa and has long worked to

help the people of the region.  Now in retirement he is committed to establishing

medical programs to assist the needy including Hospice, which is a new concept for

the area.

Adult Cardiac Surgeon Zev Davis, MD and Janine Henson, RN represented CardioStart in assessing the needs of the Cardiac Surgery program at Odessa General Hospital.

They were pleased to find a well-equipped unit and receptive staff.  CardioStart has determined that the needs lie in education and training, something they are ready to provide.

Additionally, a tour of an outlying clinic/hospital was completed and a needs assessment of the port clinic defined equipment needs.  Already, with the assistance

Of Tampa Children’s Hospital and Mr. Lukach two containers have been sent through the newly designated humanitarian port.
